A Little Story About Zac Northup & Associates
Eleven years ago I was an aspiring writer and editor looking for an outlet to publish my work on defense and national security issues. Two years earlier, I had resigned my commission from the United States Army, and after completing graduate school, felt like I had something important to say. Unlike Smith-Barney, however, virtually no one was listening.
After a few minor successes and some rather unremarkable paychecks from a newspaper and magazine, in 1996, I concluded that the only sure way to earn a living while getting my work in print was to start my own publishing company. That year, I formed my first company and began publishing a quarterly defense magazine called National Guard Review. The following year, an advertiser at Boeing Aircraft approached me and asked if I could produce a proprietary research report on the U.S. Air Force’s airlift programs. Several weeks later, they put me on contract to produce more analyses. Without knowing it, I had become a market research consultant. And as luck would have it, that contract was the first step down a road that I am still on to this day.
Within three years, I was producing market research, advertising copy, graphic design projects, books, and websites for both large and small businesses alike. In addition to several start-ups, I was fortunate enough to count several divisions of Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop-Grumman, and others as my clients. Through it all, I have maintained the principle that each of my clients has unique needs and deserves a personalized approach to meet their goals and expectations. That’s what’s led me to launch Zac Northup & Associates.
Zac Northup & Associates provides top-quality public relations, marketing, and new media services to clients in both the private and public sectors. While continuing our work with companies focused on the defense sector, we have branched out to serve those that produce everything from eyewear to software. It’s been a remarkable ride, and through this company, I look forward to serving our clients for many years to come.
